Tips for a good QR coaster

    Size

With the default 55 mm code the disc is about 95 mm across and 5.2 mm thick including the relief. You can raise the code to 80 mm and the disc grows to about 135 mm.

The glass sits on the code

The relief is flat on top, so the glass rests evenly. Wipe it clean with a damp cloth.

    Hot drinks

PLA softens above roughly 55-60 °C. For freshly made coffee or tea, print it in PETG, which copes with much more heat.

    Two colours with one nozzle

The base ends at 4.0 mm: add a filament change before the first layer above it (layer 21 with 0.2 mm layers).

    Frequently asked questions

    How big is the coaster?

With the default size, about 95 mm across and 5.2 mm thick including the relief. You can enlarge it up to about 135 mm.

Can I put a hot mug on it?

If you print it in PLA, avoid freshly made hot drinks: PLA softens at around 55-60 °C. In PETG it handles hot mugs fine.

Does the glass wobble on the relief?

No: all the relief has the same height and forms a flat surface.

Can I put the bar's wifi on it?

Yes. Pick "Wifi" above, type the network name and password, and customers connect when they scan.

How do I print it in two colours with one nozzle?

The base ends at 4.0 mm: add a filament change right before the first layer above it and the code comes out in the second colour.

    Is it free?

Yes, no account and no download limit, commercial use included.
